Hey guys! Me and my five-head here again for another week of curl bootcamp! I'm thinking we will do one more week of curls, then take a break and branch out into some other video requests I've received. I hope you have all been empowered to try new types of curls on your hair throughout these tutorials. I think curling is one of my favorite styles because of all the variety that comes with it, and variety means versatile, fresh hair no matter what day of the week it is!
This week I decided to walk you guys through a traditional wand, or wrap, curl. Wand curls are are great way to find that happy medium between finished, polished curls and natural, loose waves. They last & last and add a bouncy fullness to your hair, without being overpowering or tight. Wand curls are fairly easy to get the hang of, but do take a little practice. In my opinion, the hardest part is getting quick at your wrap. When looking in a mirror, it can be confusing which way you're moving, so my advice is to try not to rely on it completely, it's more of a 'feel' than a 'see'.
Okay, with that quick tip I think you're ready for the real deal. I use a 1 1/4" wand in my video, but a 1" works just fine as well if that is what you have! You can also use your regular curling iron as a wand, just be sure to open the clamp so you are only wrapping around the barrel. Leaving your clamp closed will cause lines/creases in your hair that are hard to hide and smooth out. I find it easier to just avoid them altogether! Alright, wands at the ready! Click below to get started.
Well how did it go? Questions? Be sure to send them my way! I'd love to help in any way I can. Remember, practice makes perfect, so sometimes it takes a couple of tries before you get the hang of it, and that is OK!
I hope you all have had a great week and wish you a great Superbowl weekend as well(even though I'm still a little salty I don't get to watch a Chiefs superbowl). One thing I love about my job, but never fails to surprise me, is how everyone you meet is walking through something, without you even realizing it. We all put on our brave face even in the midst of some really hard seasons, and I'm just so grateful for the small opportunity I have to help my guests walk through those seasons.
Blessings to you all until next time!
